I have 8 years of experience in Software QA, but my last role ended in April 2024. Since then, I've been actively searching for my next opportunity, but the job market, especially in this field, has been quite challenging. Today, I spoke with two recruiters who both indicated that my career gap is a significant concern and could hinder my chances of landing interviews. During this time, I've taken on unrelated jobs, but none in QA. I'm feeling frustrated and confused about how to address this gap. I understand that if I had chosen to leave the field voluntarily, it might raise questions, but I can't help but feel that the current job market should be taken into account. I'm seeking advice on how to navigate this situation. Is it possible to recover from a two-year gap without any QA roles? I believe that working in other positions should not reflect negatively on my commitment to my career. I'm open to any suggestions or insights from those who have faced similar challenges. Thank you!
