I’ve been feeling really uneasy about my skills lately. I’ve been working in a relatively stable field for about six years now, but it seems like overnight, everything has changed. I’m still employed, but my company feels stagnant, and when I look at job postings—whether local or remote—I notice they’re asking for tools and skills I don’t have, many of which didn’t even exist two years ago. It’s like I’ve missed a massive shift in the industry, and I’m panicking. Every time I try to update my resume or browse job listings, I get this sinking feeling. I’m worried that I need to learn new platforms and get certifications that I’ve never even heard of just to stay competitive. I’m not even in a niche industry; it just feels like the expectations have exploded. I’m really questioning if I need to spend the next six months retraining myself or if this is a common feeling for people who have been in one place for too long. Has anyone else experienced this? It’s stressful trying to figure out if I’m really behind or if I’m just psyching myself out.
