I have been receiving unemployment benefits since June, but I recently had foot surgery last week. Although I am technically weight bearing, I need to minimize my activity for the first week, and since it's my driving foot, I won't be able to drive for about six weeks. I could take on remote work, which I was doing before June, but I'm unsure if I should claim that I'm too injured to work. I'm considering switching from unemployment to short-term disability and want to understand how my benefits would change if I make that switch.

I recently had a conversation with an employee regarding my job search requirements while certifying for unemployment benefits in California. They informed me that I don't need to submit proof of my job search, which has been the case for the past month as I’ve been certifying without any issues. However, I was just notified that I need to attend a RESEA (Reemployment Services and Eligibility Assessment) via Zoom. The questionnaire I received is asking for details about where I've applied and specifics about my applications. Now I'm unsure if I am required to provide this information, especially since I was previously told it wasn't necessary. I've seen comments suggesting that I should keep a log of my job searches just in case, as the EDD can request it during an audit. It seems like I need to start documenting my applications more thoroughly to be prepared.

I recently realized that I forgot to include a 1099 gig in my unemployment claim. I did a contracted social media job from March 10 to June 2, and I was paid for it on July 13. Unfortunately, I was let go from my W2 job on June 4, which is the job I filed my claim for. So far, I've only received one payment from EDD on July 23. I'm feeling stressed about this oversight and I'm unsure how to amend my claim to include the 1099 work. I can't call them today since they're closed, so I'm hoping to get some advice on what to expect moving forward.
