I recently moved to a new state to care for family and have been on the job hunt after spending 20 years with a grocery chain, where I was a Store Manager for 4 years. My primary interest is landing a position at Costco, as I have a strong familiarity with their products and they have a good relationship with my previous employer. I applied for about 7 positions at Costco and followed up with the hiring manager, who mentioned that the Store Manager would be unavailable for another week. He advised me to check back, so I plan to do that soon. However, I learned that the competition is tough, with thousands of applications coming in. I thought my experience would give me an edge, especially since I took the initiative to follow up in person. Today, I received a call from Sam's Club for an entry-level merchandising position at $21/hr. While I’m considering it, I’m worried about accepting this job and then potentially missing out on an opportunity with Costco if they call me later. I also applied to Home Depot and a few other retail stores, but I’ve read mixed reviews about working at Sam's Club, which makes me hesitant. I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed as I haven’t searched for a job in a long time and could use some advice on how to navigate this situation.
