I work at a call center and recently, my workplace initiated an AI assistant to screen calls. They claim they’re not trying to replace us, but I can’t shake the feeling that my job is at risk. The AI is designed to handle basic inquiries and direct customers to other resources, which means we’re only left with the more complex issues. It feels like they’re gradually phasing us out. On top of that, we just had a manager swap; our previous manager moved to another team, and the new one is hard to read. I’m trying to figure out how to gauge the possibility of layoffs. Am I overreacting, or is it reasonable to be concerned about my position?
