I recently landed a marketing job that I was really excited about, especially after feeling fed up with my previous employer. However, I've come to realize that I might have been low-balled. I found out that two former employees in the same position were given the title of "manager," while I was designated as an "executive." After reviewing the handover documents and checking their LinkedIn profiles, it's clear that the roles are identical, but the title change seems to have been made to justify a lower salary. I reached out to one of the previous employees to inquire about their salary, so I’m waiting to hear back. While I appreciate the work-life balance, learning opportunities, and the supportive team around me, I can't shake the feeling of being deceived. The workload is quite heavy, and the systems in place are a bit chaotic, which adds to the pressure. I signed the offer and started already, and while the salary is decent for Ireland, I’m torn about whether to keep quiet and be grateful for the job or to address the title and salary alignment either now or in a few months. I’ve received mixed advice from others, with some suggesting I should just focus on the positives and others saying I should bring it up later. It’s a tough decision, and I’m still figuring out the best path forward.
