I'm currently seeking to transition out of retail after spending 10 years in customer service and merchandising. I'm really tired of the retail environment and have been struggling to get my foot in the door for different types of jobs. I've applied for clerical, receptionist, and medical courier positions, but I keep getting denied almost immediately. My background includes 7 years as a cashier at Kroger, 2 years in general merchandise at the same store, and a short stint as a merchandiser for Coca-Cola, which I found quite unpleasant. I also have some minor experience with Amazon and janitorial work. Right now, I'm doing Amazon Flex to make ends meet while I look for a new job. I didn't pursue a college education, and although I had the opportunity to become a head clerk at my cashier job, I chose not to because the pay was the same. However, there were times when I took on a leadership role when my manager wasn't around. I'm open to any tips or advice on how to make this career change happen!
