I received a job offer recently, but it was rescinded unexpectedly. The offer was still in the process of finalizing, as my fingerprints were clearing and I hadn't signed any official contract or completed the e-verify yet. I had a conversation with the manager yesterday to get more details about the day-to-day responsibilities, and when she asked if I had put in my two weeks' notice, I explained that I hadn't because I was waiting for an official start date. She seemed fine with that. However, today the HR representative called me to inform me that they had rescinded the offer because I had not quit my current job, and they needed someone to start immediately. I offered to discuss the situation with my manager, but she declined and wished me luck instead. I'm still in shock over how quickly things changed and the way they handled the situation.
