I ordered my birth certificate from Louisiana through VitalChek on August 28th, but it’s still processing and likely won’t arrive in time for the I-9 verification. All I have right now is my social security card and an expired Louisiana driver's license. I’m really worried that if the birth certificate doesn’t arrive soon, I might lose this job opportunity. I don’t have any family nearby who can help by picking it up and sending it to me. Tomorrow, I’m planning to visit the DMV to see if they might accept my situation for a Nebraska ID, but I’m feeling pretty anxious about what will happen if they refuse.
