I recently took on a remote graphic design position with a startup through a staffing agency, expecting 30-40 hours of work per week. Initially, things went well, but after a couple of months, my hours drastically dropped to as low as 3 hours in a week and have remained under 15 hours for the past two months. The company has been vague about their situation, citing growing pains, but there have been no updates or improvements. To make matters worse, my manager forgot to approve my timesheet for two weeks, leaving me unpaid, and frequently questioned my work output, which made me feel undervalued and overworked. They also reassigned some of my responsibilities without any communication, which added to my frustration. I'm at a point where I feel disrespected and underpaid, and I'm considering resigning. However, I'm worried about the long-term consequences of quitting and whether I should wait for them to let me go instead. I'm also contemplating taking a temporary job at a coffee shop while I search for a new design position. I’ve reached out to my recruiter for more information about the hours but received no helpful updates. I’m really looking for advice on how to handle this situation while maintaining my dignity.
