I just completed my first job application for a Library Media Assistant position at Hawthorn Middle School North. This is my first full-time job after graduating from Illinois State University with a Bachelor of Science in History and a Minor in Child Studies. I’m really excited about this opportunity because I have a personal connection to the school, having attended Hawthorn Elementary South and Hawthorn Middle School South. In my application, I highlighted my passion for creating a supportive learning environment, which I believe is crucial for students. I shared my experiences, starting from my first job as a swim instructor for young children, where I learned the importance of adaptability and individualized lesson plans. I also mentioned my role as a teaching assistant in the history department at my university, where I helped students develop their critical thinking and research skills. I emphasized my love for literature and helping others, which has always been a driving force in my life. I believe that a school library should be a nurturing space that fosters curiosity and a lifelong love of learning. I also included my early experiences with technology in education, which I presented at a conference when I was just 10 years old, showing my long-standing commitment to the field. I really hope my application stands out and that I get the chance to contribute to a place that had such a positive impact on my own education.
