    I’m feeling really anxious about my job situation right now. About a month ago, I started a part-time role at a credit union, and just two weeks in, they offered me a full-time position because they saw I was already putting in extra hours. I accepted the offer, even though they initially didn’t disclose the pay, as I knew I couldn't stay part-time for long at that rate. However, shortly after that, I received an offer from a commercial bank. I almost turned it down but decided against it, remembering past experiences. Their offer was contingent on passing a background check, and they set my start date for the upcoming Monday. I didn’t mention this to my current employer because I knew the offer wasn’t guaranteed yet, but I went ahead with the background check. The following week, my current employer informed me that I wouldn’t be getting the full-time position because they would need to find someone else for my part-time role if I left. It felt like they were just playing games with me, so I decided to pursue the bank offer instead. Then, the next day, I found out that the bank had called my branch for employment verification. They spoke to my assistant manager, senior vice president, and manager, basically letting them know I would be leaving, which I wasn’t ready to discuss yet. I wanted to use this offer to negotiate for a full-time position at my current job, even if it meant less pay. Now, my supervisors have told the entire team that I’m leaving, and people keep asking me about it. I didn’t confirm anything, but they’re treating it like it’s a done deal. They even told me to bring in a formal resignation letter for Friday, but I hadn’t officially decided to leave yet. I’m feeling really pushed out and confused. I’ve been in this role for six years and have been doing the job without formal training because I already knew the system. It would have made sense for them to give me the full-time position. Now, I’m worried that I might lose my part-time job at the credit union because of this situation, and I’m anxious that the bank might not follow through with their offer. I also work another part-time job that pays less, but the scheduling has been chaotic, and I fear losing that as well. I was unemployed for ten months before landing these opportunities, and now it feels like everything is slipping away just when I thought I was getting back on track. I really don’t know what to do at this point.

    Today, I finally received a job offer after 10 long months of searching and submitting over 300 applications. It's a part-time role at a credit union, and while it's not a high-paying position or a significant step up in my career, I'm just relieved to have an offer. The start date was initially set for August 3rd, but I had to inform the manager that I already have a paid vacation planned for that week. She checked with HR, and the new start date is August 17th. However, I just realized that I have another event on August 21st that requires me to fly out of town. I need to figure out how to communicate this to my new employer without jeopardizing the offer. I don't want to cancel this event, as I've already paid for the tickets and flight. I feel stuck because I already asked to push back the start date once, and I don't want to seem like I'm making excuses. I remember how I regretted canceling a previous commitment for a job that I ended up losing shortly after. I want to maintain a balance between my personal life and my new professional responsibilities. I plan to approach HR and explain that it was an oversight on my part and that I have to travel out of town for this event. I hope to suggest making up the hours earlier in the week or the following week. I'm just anxious about how this will be received.
