I left my full-time job in September 2025 due to mental health issues, and after getting my situation under control, I started the year on a positive note. I took on substitute teaching, tax preparation, and a part-time hotel job, which were all low-stress roles that suited me well. However, by mid-February, things took a turn for the worse. I lost my tax prep gig, which was set to end in May anyway, and I found myself without any substitute teaching opportunities, which I wasn't particularly fond of. Although the hotel was able to offer me more shifts, they were all night shifts. After months of being promised a full-time position with benefits, that never materialized, and the night shifts were not ideal for my anxiety. I ultimately had to leave that job. Just four days later, I was offered a decent part-time position, which I eagerly accepted and started last week. However, today, just one week into the job, I walked in to be told they were going in a different direction and handed me a check. I had passed up other interviews because I thought I had secured a position, and now those opportunities are gone. I spent the day crying and feeling utterly defeated. I just want to give up.
