Xendododo's journey

I have been self-employed for the past 2.5 years, but I've been struggling financially and am now looking to return to a full-time office job in the HR industry. Despite being qualified and even overqualified for many positions, I keep getting rejected before I even make it to the interview stage. I'm feeling quite discouraged and would love to hear about others' experiences with re-entering the corporate world after self-employment. Should I consider applying for lower-level positions than I previously held, or should I stick to my qualifications? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
