I recently applied for a job in Virginia and, in a moment of desperation, I lied on my resume about having a degree that I actually don't possess. Now that I'm going through the background check phase, I'm feeling incredibly anxious about the situation. I'm not sure how to proceed, and I know that if this lie is discovered, it could cost me the job. I'm considering whether I should withdraw my application altogether to avoid the potential fallout. It's a tough lesson learned, and I realize I need to be more honest in my future job searches.
