I'm currently transitioning from a federal government role to the private sector and have relocated to a new city. My focus is on facility and space planning within healthcare systems, which is a niche field. As I'm starting from scratch in terms of my professional network here, I've had a few promising interactions with potential employers, but unfortunately, none of them have materialized into job offers. For instance, I reached the final round with one employer, but they lost funding for the position. Another employer seemed very interested and even offered me a role, but then I never heard back from them despite my follow-ups. A third employer told me I was a strong candidate and wanted to adjust the role to better fit my skills, but then they ghosted me completely. Given that there are only a handful of companies in this city that align with my career goals, I realize the importance of keeping in touch with these employers. I've tried cold emailing with personalized messages, but I haven't received any responses. Therefore, I'm looking for advice on how to maintain these professional relationships without coming off as annoying or overly eager for a job. I'm considering options like inviting them for coffee, connecting on LinkedIn, or sending periodic check-in emails. I'm curious to hear from others who have successfully maintained similar connections—what strategies worked for you, how often did you reach out, and what did you say when you didn't have a specific reason to contact them?
