  1. 1

I recently made the tough decision to quit my job teaching hip hop at a dance studio, where I had been working for a year. At just 19 years old, balancing my full-time college studies and a second job, the two hours I was teaching each week just wasn't enough. The studio was an hour away, and I found myself overwhelmed with conflicts that made it impossible to commit reliably. I scheduled a meeting with my boss to give her my week's notice. However, the conversation took a turn I didn't expect. For the next 15 minutes, she emotionally manipulated me, questioning my character, reliability, and morals. She expressed her frustrations about the studio's challenges, like the mortgage and competition costs, and implied that my resignation would make things worse for her. Despite my attempts to stay calm and professional, she continued to insult me and dismissed my offers to help with lesson plans. I tried to express my understanding of the situation, but she shot me down every time. At one point, she even cried and said she wished she never hired me, which was incredibly disheartening. Now, I have to return to teach my final classes this Friday, and I'm feeling anxious about facing her again. I'm worried she'll speak poorly of me to others, and it's hard to shake off the hurtful things she said. I'm looking for advice on how to handle this week leading up to my last day.
