    I was laid off from my position as a Geophysicist after completing my PhD in Geophysics three years ago. The layoff occurred when my company, facing tough times due to recent executive orders, let go of over 60% of its staff, and I was among those affected. Since then, I've been struggling to find stable work. Currently, I'm working part-time as a faculty member and even took a temporary job in a warehouse just to make ends meet. I've been applying to a variety of jobs outside of geophysics, leveraging my skills in computers, coding, and other technical tools, but the search has been challenging and largely unsuccessful. I'm feeling pretty stuck and would appreciate any advice from others who have successfully transitioned out of geophysics or academia into more stable career paths.

    I applied for a position at Parsons through their online portal some time ago. My application was under review for a while, but then I received unexpected communication from a contractor asking me to sign a RTR (Right to Represent) form. I got caught up with other commitments and haven't had the chance to respond to the RTR form yet. To my surprise, the very next day after receiving the RTR, I was officially rejected for the original job I applied for through their portal. I'm wondering if this is just a coincidence or if anyone else has experienced something similar. I'd appreciate any insights on this situation.
