I recently found myself in a tough spot after switching jobs. I left my previous position at Job A at the end of May for a new role that promised a better work/life balance and a great schedule. However, shortly after starting, I discovered that they were cutting hours, which forced me to look for something else. I ended up taking a temp-to-hire position about 40 minutes away, which was advertised as a Monday to Friday job with no weekends. But during orientation, they mentioned they hadn’t worked a weekend in ages, only to find out an hour later that the schedule actually required 60 hours a week, including weekends! Feeling frustrated, I received a call from Job A asking if I wanted to come back. It would mean working weekends, but only every other week, and I’d be back to a job that I know well and is just 10 minutes from home. Now I'm torn. My husband is upset with me for switching jobs so quickly, especially since he has a stable 40-hour salary job with a predictable schedule. I’m worried about how it looks to have three jobs in just two months. But honestly, with the way Job B misled me about the schedule, I feel justified in wanting to return to Job A. I’m just not sure if it will reflect poorly on me in the long run.

I've been reflecting on the current job market and wondering if it will ever shift back to being favorable for job seekers. I remember the struggles of finding work during the 2008 recession, but at least there were options like working as a nursing home aide on less desirable shifts. Now, it feels like even those opportunities are scarce. I'm also starting to feel the weight of ageism as I approach my later years, which adds to my sense of hopelessness and has been triggering some depression that I thought I had under control. I've seen mixed opinions on whether the economy will improve, with some saying they don't see any signs of it getting better, while others are more optimistic. It's tough to navigate these feelings and uncertainties.

I took today off from my job at XYZ Corp for a final interview with ABC Inc. I had already passed the reference check and felt confident about my chances. However, I was informed that they received a last-minute application and that it would take another week or two to make a decision. It's frustrating because I would rather know if I didn't get the job instead of being left in limbo. I've faced rejections before, so I'm no stranger to this process. I just wish they would communicate more clearly.

I just accepted a job offer and I'm set to start next week. However, I'm still in probation and orientation at my current job, and I suspect they would let me go if I gave notice. Now, I've received an invitation for a second interview at a company that I believe I might prefer. I'm torn about whether I should mention that I'm starting a different job or just act like I'm still at my current position during the interview. Some advice I read suggested that I should just pretend I'm still employed at my old job, as they don't need to know about the new one until I actually get an offer.

I had an interview for a position recently and was invited back later that week to shadow the team to see if it was a good fit for me. I rearranged my schedule and made the effort to show up, but after that, I didn’t hear anything for days. I decided to follow up and when I reached out to the hiring manager, she seemed evasive and struggled to provide clear answers. She promised to call me back after making a few calls, but four days went by without any communication. I later found out from a mutual acquaintance that they had already made their decision about who to hire before I even shadowed. It felt incredibly disrespectful to have me take time off work for something they weren’t genuinely considering me for. I just don’t understand why they would waste my time like that.
