I recently experienced back-to-back rejections during my job search for a co-op position through my university. Yesterday, I had an online interview with three other candidates, and unfortunately, I didn't make the cut. Today, I had an in-person interview with around ten other applicants for the same role, and again, I was rejected. This was my first time interviewing, and I was really hoping to secure a position. The frustrating part is that I can't get any feedback on my performance since all communication goes through the university, and they don't provide any insights. It's disheartening, but I'm trying to stay positive and remember that rejection is a common part of the process.

I just learned that Greggs is planning to shut down four of its factories, which will lead to the loss of 740 jobs. This news is really disheartening, especially for those of us who have been part of the team for a long time. I'm currently in a state of uncertainty as I try to figure out my next steps in the job market.

I just learned that MasterBrand is making some significant changes that will impact 390 workers at the Kinston facility. This news is concerning as it could lead to layoffs or restructuring in our department. I'm currently trying to gather more information about how this will affect our roles and what support might be available for those impacted. It's a tough situation, and I'm hoping for the best for everyone involved.

I just found out that Blaize is laying off 26% of its workforce as part of a restructuring plan. It's a tough situation, and I'm feeling a bit uncertain about my role here. I work in the engineering department, and while I haven't received any direct communication about my position being affected, the news is definitely unsettling. I guess I'll have to stay alert and prepare for any changes that might come my way.

I had my final interviews for a Risk Analyst role at American Express about two months ago. After the interviews, I tried reaching out to HR multiple times through calls, emails, and even WhatsApp, but I haven't received any response. I even sent a formal email with the interviewers in CC, yet still no reply. It's frustrating because I haven't received a rejection either. I'm starting to wonder what my next steps should be. Should I just move on and apply elsewhere?

I recently went through multiple interviews with a company that seemed to go really well. The HR rep was quick to follow up after each interview with positive feedback and to schedule the next one. Last Wednesday, I received a 'pre-hire' email, which was exciting. It requested my references and outlined the next steps, including a drug test and education verification after a written offer. They also sent me their benefits package and holiday schedule, which felt like a good sign. I completed my references by Thursday and Friday of last week. Now, it's been a week since then, and I'm starting to feel anxious about the wait. I’m hopeful based on the positive signs, but I’m trying to gauge the likelihood of receiving an offer and how long this process typically takes. Any insights would be appreciated!

I recently stumbled upon some sensitive information regarding upcoming layoffs at my company, which is a large organization. I accidentally received access to a document that outlines plans for the next year, including which teams and locations will be affected. It even mentions roles that are set to be eliminated, some of which are high-level positions under the CEO. I believe my name got mixed up with someone else's, leading to this unintentional access. Now I'm in a dilemma about what to do with this information. Should I keep it to myself, or is it better to report the mistake? The document doesn't have any names, just roles and timelines, and it seems like the hiring goals are focused on cheaper locations. I've seen some advice suggesting that I should monitor the situation without taking any drastic actions, as this could be a test of loyalty or a simple mistake. However, the weight of knowing this information is quite stressful, and I’m unsure of the best course of action.

I have been working at my company for 4.5 years and have built a strong reputation, even winning multiple awards and receiving recognition from the CMO. Recently, I transitioned to a sales overlay role to bridge the gap with marketing. However, this year has been challenging, and the company culture has become increasingly negative. I've been actively looking for a new job for about a month because I no longer want to stay at the company. Yesterday, I learned that my team is being restructured, and they are trying to find me a new role within the next two weeks. Typically, they lay off employees on the same day, so I believe they are genuinely attempting to relocate me. Alongside this, they are offering a severance package if I choose not to accept any of the new roles they propose. Given my desire to leave, the severance package seems appealing. However, I am concerned about how choosing to take the severance might affect my job search. I've heard that being laid off can negatively impact future employment opportunities, and I'm worried that opting for the severance might look bad to potential employers.

I’ve been noticing a significant decline in overseas companies hiring from India lately. In the past, recruiters would actively reach out to Indian professionals and set up discovery calls, but now it feels like I’m just not hearing back at all. It’s frustrating to see this shift, as it seems like there was once a time when Indian talent was in high demand. I wonder if the perception of talent quality has changed, as some people argue that Indian professionals are only suitable for basic roles, while American companies prefer hiring locally for more technical positions. It’s disheartening to see this trend, especially when I’ve put in so much effort to build my skills.

I recently noticed that my company changed its 401k matching policy from a 5% match per paycheck (7% after three years) to a once-a-year lump sum match. This new policy states that I will only receive the match if I remain employed for the entire year, and if I get laid off for any reason, including a reduction in force, I won't receive the match at all. I'm feeling quite concerned about this change. At 28 years old and having been with the company for less than two years, I appreciate having a stable job, and I genuinely like my role. However, this shift in benefits makes me wonder what the company might be planning. Is this a precaution due to economic uncertainty, or is it a sign that layoffs could be on the horizon? I’ve seen comments suggesting that this is a classic move to save money, and that many employees may leave or be let go before the year ends, which would mean the company saves on the match. It’s also concerning that I could lose out on compounded interest since the match is now delayed until the end of the year. Given these factors, I think it might be wise to start looking for new opportunities. The wording in the policy about layoffs feels like a red flag, and I want to be prepared for any potential changes.

Today, I learned that BMW plans to cut around 100 senior management roles, which is about 20% of their senior management team, by utilizing AI. As someone who has been following industry trends, this news is concerning. It seems like a significant move towards automating decision-making processes, which could lead to further job cuts down the line, especially for experienced individual contributors (ICs). I've seen similar situations in my previous company where management cuts led to a ripple effect of layoffs among ICs. The comments from others reflect a growing worry about the impact of AI on job security across the board. It feels like we are entering a new era where AI might replace more roles, and it makes me anxious about the future job market. I can't help but feel that this trend could weaken overall purchasing power and hurt businesses in the long run.

After 9 long months of job searching, I finally landed a job! It felt like an endless cycle of applications disappearing into the void, getting rejected from positions I knew I could handle, and going through multiple interview rounds only to be ghosted. I started to doubt my entire career and wonder if I was imagining my professional skills. Each new application came with the hope that 'this could be the one,' followed by the disappointment of refreshing my inbox like a Victorian woman waiting for her husband to return from war. I tried to stay grounded during interviews, knowing how often they lead to nothing. But then, it actually happened—I got the job! The relief is indescribable. The entire process really took a toll on my confidence, making me question my experience and abilities. I thought I might be unemployable, but now I can confidently say that chapter is closed. If you're in a similar situation, keep pushing through; you will get there!

I recently completed my PhD in Chemical Biology in Germany and I'm currently facing challenges in my job search. I've applied for over 100 positions ranging from product manager to project manager, scientific coordinator, VC internships, and consulting roles, but I've only had a few unsuccessful interviews. The situation feels quite dire, and I'm even considering applying for a job at Subway as a last resort. Before I take that step, I want to ensure that my CV is not the issue. I have two versions of my CV: one tailored for scientific roles and another for strategic positions like VC or consulting. I'm reaching out for advice on whether my CV might be hindering my chances in this tough job market. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated, as I'm running low on hope.

I received a verbal offer for a new job, but I'm still waiting on the official offer letter. My start date is set for October 19, and I've already submitted my HR paperwork, including direct deposit information. However, the contact person I've been communicating with has not responded to my emails, which is making me anxious. I'm supposed to give my two weeks' notice by Monday, but I'm worried that this new position might not come through, leaving me in a tough spot. Today, I'm planning to call them to confirm that they still want me on board. I'm also considering what else I can do to ensure that this isn't just a ruse. On top of that, I'm feeling uneasy about quitting my current job. My new boss seems to barely tolerate me, and I dread how my last two weeks will unfold. I want to finish up a project, but I'm wondering if it would be better to use my remaining PTO instead of working through the notice period. It's been a long time since I willingly left a job, and I'm feeling pretty terrified about this whole situation.

I've been unemployed for 15 months after being forced to resign from my role as Manager in the CTO Office back in June 2025 due to management changes. Initially, my compensation was ₹16 LPA, but after a few months, the Managing Director removed the variable component of my salary, impacting my earnings despite my performance. Eventually, I was laid off and promised one month’s severance pay, which I never received, along with my last salary for June 2025. After relocating back to my parents' home from Ahmedabad, I started applying for jobs, hoping to rebuild my career. However, life took a turn when my father suffered a major cardiac arrest, requiring significant financial support for his treatment. I was juggling hospital visits and job applications, which was mentally exhausting. Thankfully, my father's health improved, allowing me to focus more on my job search. Despite my efforts—applying to numerous positions, seeking referrals, and revamping my resume and LinkedIn profile—I’ve only landed fewer than 10 interviews in this time. I've faced rejections for reasons like my career gap and lack of experience with larger corporations. In some instances, I completed assignments for potential employers but never received feedback. The growing employment gap is daunting, and I'm feeling the pressure. I’m not looking for shortcuts or a senior position handed to me; I’m ready to start over and prove myself. My strength lies in solving business problems with technology, and I’m eager to find a role that allows me to bridge the gap between business and tech. If anyone knows of job openings, recruiters, or has advice on improving my profile, I would greatly appreciate your help. I'm ready to get back to work and support my family again.

I graduated 14 months ago and have been struggling to find full-time work ever since. Currently, I work part-time for two different organizations; one is in the heritage sector, but I only get about two days of work a month on average. The other role is a remote admin position, but the pay is quite low. While I can manage to pay my bills, it's a tight squeeze. Since graduating, I've been actively searching for a full-time role in heritage, but despite having a handful of interviews, I've been unsuccessful each time. By January, I broadened my job search to include any available positions, applying to everything I could find. I’ve lost count, but I know I’ve submitted over 500 applications, and it's really taking a toll on my mental health. I believe my CV is decent, showcasing good experience, yet I haven’t landed a job. I feel so close to giving up; my current situation is draining, and I have no savings to fall back on. I want to work full-time, but I'm feeling stuck. My CV highlights four years of administration experience, a year in a museum, and volunteering with heritage properties. I tailor my CV for different fields, focusing on customer service or heritage as needed. I also write cover letters and have been told I interview well, but the feedback usually indicates I was lovely but lacked the experience compared to other candidates. I'm really unsure about what I'm missing in my job search. Any advice on how to secure full-time employment would be greatly appreciated.

I recently left my position at a mid-sized tech company due to company-wide restructuring. When discussing this with recruiters, I focus on the positive aspects of my experience there and how I contributed to the team. I explain that the decision was part of a larger organizational change that affected many roles, including mine. I emphasize my adaptability and willingness to embrace new opportunities, framing it as a chance for growth and to find a role that aligns more closely with my career goals.

I recently experienced a very difficult situation at my job as a software developer. For the past year, I was subjected to bullying from two managers and two developers who seemed determined to get me fired. It was a mentally exhausting environment, filled with smear campaigns and public humiliation. One colleague, in particular, would attack me during meetings and on Slack, claiming I was a blocker and suggesting others should help me do my job. She even excluded me from projects, bringing in another developer to work with her while publicly stating that others should reach out to her for questions about the project, completely disregarding my contributions. My manager added to the toxicity by making jokes at my expense and telling me to 'shut up' in front of others. When I confronted him about his behavior, he dismissed my concerns and instead encouraged the aggressive behavior of my colleague. I tried to address the issues directly, but my manager only made things worse, siding with her and even contradicting me in front of the team. The situation escalated to the point where I was let go, and I deeply regret not fighting harder to stay. I had a good relationship with the product owner, but my manager's smear campaign destroyed that. Despite my hard work and dedication, it felt like I was constantly undermined. Now that I've been fired, I can't shake the anger and frustration at how manipulative my manager was throughout this process. He even had the audacity to say he wished he could have fought for me in front of the CEO while smiling during the termination meeting. I feel like I let them win, and it's been hard to come to terms with this experience.

I recently found myself in a tough spot after taking a middle management role at a global pharmaceutical company. I moved halfway across the US for this position, and initially, I was thrilled. The compensation was good, there were yearly bonuses, and I saw potential for growth. I even had the chance to work with long-tenured team members and access to internal career development programs. After a long nine-month job search, landing this role felt like a dream come true. However, reality set in quickly. The culture and morale in my department have been dismal, and the workload has been overwhelming. I've been working more overtime than I ever have in my life, and the constant operational changes and personnel issues have made it even more stressful. I initially thought it was just my team struggling, but after talking to peers and doing some short stints on other teams, I've realized it's a site-wide problem. Many colleagues have mentioned that the company has been on a downward trend for the past couple of years. I've been actively looking for other job opportunities, both internally and externally, but I’m leaning more towards external options. My most senior peer, who is highly respected and capable, has been stuck in this department for years without any chance of moving up, which is discouraging. Adding to my dilemma is the fact that the company covered my relocation expenses, totaling $14,000. At first, I thought it was a great benefit, but now it feels like a heavy burden. If I leave before the two-year mark, I’ll have to pay back the entire amount, which complicates my plans to potentially go to grad school in the next couple of years. I thought I could tough it out until the two years are up, but each day feels increasingly unbearable. My social life has taken a hit, and I can feel the toll it's taking on my mental and physical health. I feel trapped, and I’m not sure how to navigate this situation without jeopardizing my future.
